This Is My Why

In 2020, a serious auto accident involving my family exposed me to the complex and often inconsistent world of medical billing—particularly in the context of injury claims. The experience highlighted how difficult it can be to assess the accuracy and appropriateness of charges when documentation is incomplete or coding is unclear. That challenge sparked a deeper interest in the mechanics of medical billing and led me to formalize my training in medical coding and reimbursement standards.

Since then, I’ve developed expertise across both the payer and provider sides, working in diverse specialties including behavioral health, risk adjustment, home health, pain management, physical therapy, chiropractic care, laboratory services, rheumatology, cardiology, pediatrics, orthopedics, outpatient and inpatient surgery, anesthesia, ED, E/M, and utilization management. I’ve also worked extensively with UCR benchmarking and other valuation methodologies that are critical in legal and insurance settings.

With the perspective I now hold as a certified coder and billing analyst, I can recognize where even well-intentioned documentation and charges fall short of compliance or fairness—insights that directly inform the work we do at Coderity, LLC.
